Major changes to Ticketek's website unveiled as tickets for Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism Tour go on sale

If you missed the Taylor Swift ticketing nightmare last June, consider yourself lucky.

More than four million fans fought for tickets to Swift’s The Eras Tour Australian leg, which saw The Great War singer ultimately perform for more than 624,500 lucky Swifties across in Melbourne and Sydney in February.

Securing tickets to Swift’s seven shows, however, was nothing short of a miracle. And it’s sparked a monumental change to Ticketek’s systems ahead of two major events hitting Australian shores.

Fans of Dua Lipa this morning would have been pleasantly surprised to see a series of subtle upgrades to Ticketek’s purchase portal when logging on for the Radical Optimism Tour Amex pre-sale.

Major changes made to Ticketek purchase portal

First and foremost, before you can even enter the dreaded Ticketek Lounge, you now must pass an ‘I am not a robot’ ReCAPTCHA test.

Ticketek notably repelled more than half a billion bots from accessing tickets to Swift’s The Eras Tour in June 2023, though that didn’t stop conspiracy theories from running wild at the time.

“We only allow genuine fans into the lounge for fair access,” a spokesperson for Ticketek told 9honey Celebrity at the time.

“The security and the protections that we have in place will not let bots into the lounge.”

Once you’re in the Ticketek Lounge, battle-hardened warriors will notice another major change.

Yes, the cursed blue line of death is still there, but it’s no longer a lone bad omen.

Instead of having no information as to where in the virtual queue you are – and if you’re in the queue at all – Ticketek’s previously blinking blue line is now an obvious blue progress bar, and you’re also told how many people are ahead of you in the queue.

It’s important to note that the “blue line” has always been a progress bar, but the new design with a queue number serves as peace of mind for fans waiting to buy tickets.

How to get Dua Lipa tickets?

The changes to Ticketek’s purchase portal not only came ahead of Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism Tour pre- and general sales, but also ahead of tickets to September 28’s 2024 AFL Grand Final being made available.

Dua Lipa is performing at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Less than a week later, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Dua Lipa will perform at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.

For Swift’s sale, however, there was no indicator of where in the queue you were, or if you were in it at all. The progress bar as well simply ‘blinked’, it didn’t load to show you how long you had to go. (Supplied)
